john swanbeck knows what he wants. a simple, well-articulated shoot in and around LA yielded visual treats and a new friend. swanbeck knows his way around details; how much coffee belongs in the cup, how to wrangle the best firearm and how to organize loose change around a script. i considered flying out with the perfect prop (long story with small collection of replica firearms for photos) but a fast-forward to conversations at the gate – while potentially amusing – gave me pause. swanbeck's directorial film debut - the big kahuna - featured kevin spacey & danny devito. check out his production company, BlueSwanFilms, to see what he's been up to lately.
