in with himmel(man)

i first heard of peter himmelman fresh out of college. i'd just started shooting musicians and this guy plays a riveting show on lansdowne street in boston. a succession of late nights in the darkroom singing along to boom box cassette tapes of 'synesthesia' and 'flown this acid world', and a fan was born (that would be me.)
fast forward to 2007. i'm sitting across from a friend who tells me he had a great experience with a musician from LA, who goes by the name of peter himmelman. himmelman invites him to LA. i follow, and find myself a part of himmelman's furious world recording, followed by a memorable breakfast at
nathans kosherland, and then a photo session around the santa monica pier.
i don't consider myself a fast fan of many people or things, but i love the way himmelman thinks, produces and performs. profound and inane, it's inspiring to engage with the world through his lens; and how much more fun to engage his world through my lens. now that's better than a jalapeno bagel any day (take that, kosherland!).
